The Qualifying Rounds update

I am busy sorting my spreadsheet this weekend! So far, I have eight groups.
Baseball, Football, Soccer, Rugby and Miscellaneous Groups 1, 2, 3 & 4.

Each group will contain 16 athletes. The top eight in each group advance to the King of the Hardwood tournament.

The maximum amount of athletes per sport is eight.

In the miscellaneous groups, all athletes of a particular sport are grouped together to ensure that no more than eight athletes of a like sport advance to the tourney. If I did not keep the like athletes together, and instead, spread them over the four different miscellaneous groups, there could have been a possibility where more than eight athletes of a sport (Track & Field, for example) could have advanced to the tourney.

I have spots saved for Hockey players and I have a couple more open spots for other sports.

Depending on how far I get this weekend, look for the first & maybe second qualifying rounds to post next week. I plan to run the poll for a week to give people ample time to research & make their selections. I am NOT limiting the poll to one vote per person. You can vote for as many athletes as you like. I would suggest voting for the 8 athletes that you would like to see advance to the tournament.

It's coming....

Test Poll results : Hot Coaches

And the winner of my test Hottest Head Coach poll is:

Tony Bennett - Washington State University Basketball Head Coach!

Here is the final tally:

Jon Gruden - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
3 (17%)
Jack Del Rio - Jacksonville Jaguars
2 (11%)
John Harbaugh - Baltimore Ravens
4 (23%)

Tickets to the Dance

This year, I have so many nominees that I am having a difficult time narrowing them down to a field of 64. Football, Rygby, Soccer & Tennis are loaded, so I am afraid that I have to limit each sport to 8 spots each. There are just so many athletes out there.

So, my initial breakdown is as follows:

Football - 8
Baseball - 8
Soccer - 8
Rugby - 8
Tennis - 8
All Other Sports - 24

In order to get the fields down, I am leaning towards a qualifying round on this site. The main tournament will be run on Outsports, but to whittle it down, people will have to "caucus" so to speak, for their favorite, or at least help decide the field. I don't know. I'm still debating the idea in my head. Feel free to make suggestions.
